Answer 1) There are people who do not express their love in words or in deeds. This kind of hidden love has no value. It is worthless, whereas an open rebuke has the potential to point out and probably correct behavior or action.
This is mentioned in Proverbs 27:5. An open rebuke is better than hidden love.
Answer 2) The refining pot is used to test the purity for silver and the furnace for testing the purity of gold. Whereas a man is tested by praise. A person who chooses not to conceited in response to praise demonstrates purity of character. Proverbs 27:7. NKJV version –The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, And a man is valued by what others say of him. NLT version – Fire tests the purity of silver and gold, but a person is tested by being praised.
Answer 3) A person who has eaten to his satisfaction and has his stomach full refuses honey, whereas to a person who is hungry, even bitter food tastes good. Proverbs 27:7.A satisfied soul loathes the honeycomb, But to a hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
Answer 4) Wounds from a sincere friend are like a correction / rebuke, or any hurtful behavior. A sincere friend has some good reason for being so. Whereas it is better than flattery, kisses from a enemy who has an ulterior matter or harm in mind.
Proverbs 27:6. Faithful are the wounds of a friend, But the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.
Answer 5) Brothers are likely to be staying far away, whereas friends are likely to stay in the neighbourhood. In a time of emergency, the nearest people can be the only people who can give timely help.
Proverbs 27:10. Do not forsake your own friend or your father’s friend, Nor go to your brother’s house in the day of your calamity; Better is a neighbor nearby than a brother far away. The Lord will make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
Answer 6) Death, hell, destruction will keep continuing the evil work, they are never satisfied. Human desire and the eyes of man have similar behavior. We can see this in society where men are never satisfied by the riches, power and pleasure they have. They keep pursing these endlessly.
Proverbs 27:20. Hell and Destruction are never full; So the eyes of man are never satisfied.
