Jesus has explicitly told that all believers are expected to do what Jesus did, even greater works. Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. (John 14:12)
Like Jesus who healed everyone, we are to do so. When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, ( Mathew 8:16).
Healing demonstrates God’s Supernatural power. When a believer operates in the healing ministry, the power operating is of the Lord Jesus. All power and authority in heaven and earth is given to Jesus. And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. (Mathew 28:18) Jesus gave this commission to the disciples to heal the sick. And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and disease. (Matthew 10:1)
Healing shows the mercy of God, the power of God. People who experience or get to know about these believe in Jesus being their Lord and their savior. If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me; but if I do, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, that you may know and believe that the Father is in Me, and I in Him.” (John 10:37-38). When Peter healed Aeneas at Lydda who was paralysed and bedridden for eight years. And Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus the Christ heals you. Arise and make your bed.” Then he arose immediately. 35 So all who dwelt at Lydda, and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord. (Acts 9:34-35)
Thus the verses in the Bible demonstrate the Power of God, not merely the Good news. Here is a passage from Paul’s letter to the Corinthians. And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom, declaring to you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. (1 Corinthians 2:1-5)
The most important aspect that we should be reminded of is that healing ministry is not limited to any section of accomplished people like the apostles, great figures of today’s healing ministry like Pastor Benny Hinn, Randy Clark or Bill Johnson and others like them including certain Pastors in the city or country you live. Before Randy Clark, Bill Johnson started operating in the Healing Ministry, there were months and years during which they did not experience the fruit of the Healing prayers they had prayed for many. An interesting book with very many instances where ordinary people are used by God in healings can be read in this book by Randy Clark. God Can Use Little Ole Me: Remarkable Stories of Ordinary Christians
As our lives are meant to draw many into accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. As well as encouraging many believers to step into the healing ministry, as this is not an add-on, but part of the commission that the disciples received, which is also the default expectation for each and every Christian, including you and me.
And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. (Mark 16:15)
And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name, they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” (Mark 16:17-18)
