Prayer before reading the Bible

Prayer before reading the Bible

We read the Bible to hear from God. Yet because our minds are not still and at rest, we can miss hearing all that God wants us to hear and know. As we get to hear from Almighty God as we read the Holy Bible, we should prepare ourselves. Prayer can silence all noises we hear. Prayer can turn our attention to God. Prayer prepares our heart to hear from God. So pray and seek God’s Wisdom, Grace and Guidance. Pray, pause and then read the Bible. This prayer is uniquely powerful as it is based on the scripture.

Prayer before reading the Holy Bible

Dear Lord,
Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
As I prepare to read the Living Word,
I desire to hear all You want to tell me.
( based on Psalm 119:105)

Why hide in the secret place?

Many of us like secrets. Yet many do not know the secrets, as they do not take the effort to find them. Here in this blog post, you will find great pointers that can help you reach the “secret place”. But you need to make the effort, right to desire this. The points to “the secret place” are given in the question-answer format, so that you only need to read the response only if the question interests you.

Question) What is the secret place? Where is it?

The secret place is a spiritual place. Your physical location is not defined nor can anyone travel to that location with GPS.

The state of your heart takes you to the secret place. It’s a place of love and intimacy with God. No enemy can either see you or reach you. No one can trouble you. No accusation affects you. You are shielded and protected. No plague, nor sword can ever come near you.

Why Psalm 119?
Psalm 119 is the longest chapter in the Bible with 176 verses. It has a similar length to the shorter books of the Bible like Ruth, James and Philippians.

The chapter has 22 stanzas, each beginning with a letter in the Hebrew alphabet.
The chapter has great beauty describing the facets of God’s word which includes laws, percepts, statutes, commands and testimonies. Thus all but two verses (122 & 132) in this chapter have some aspect of God’s word explained.
