Today’s verse is from Ephesians 1:17 Here is the verse from three versions of the Bible.
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: (version KJV)
I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. (version? NIV)
[I always pray] that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may grant you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation [that gives you a deep and personal and intimate insight] into the true knowledge of Him [for we know the Father through the Son]. (version AMP)
Paul prays this for the Christians in Ephesians.
Relationships develop and mature with greater depth of awareness. It’s a journey, a process.
Even as a child grows, he gets to know his parents as he grows. If he’s been careful enough, diligent enough, he gets to steward his learning and guidance from his parents, even when he leaves home to places away from home for higher education and jobs. Those principles taught by his parents keep him secure, keep him away from harm. When the child intentionally takes steps to nurture the relationship, the child continues to receive great wisdom and blessings beyond comprehension.
We can never ever get to understand God. But when we understand he is Sovereign, when we trust and believe he is faithful, our life is filled with peace, rather than anxiety.
When we get to know him more, better, our walk with Him becomes that of trust, hope, faith. If our earthly parents are so good, can we imagine the goodness of our Father God, who gave us Jesus Christ, who blessed us with the Holy Spirit.
When we get to know him better, know that he loves us, and he is in charge of our lives, with greater ease, we can surrender our lives to him. In that process, we become obedient to him, we start letting God’s nature be expressed through us. More people around us get to experience the loving kindness of God when they interact with us.
But it starts with our receiving greater wisdom and revelation about God. We would be amazed as we lean on him for more wisdom and revelation, how much shift and change in our perspective. Our thirst to know more increases and our peace in Him grows powerful.
