Q4. What is the Kingdom of God like as per Jesus?
Q5. Why should we not be anxious? What does Jesus say?
Q6. Did Jesus come to give peace on earth?
A1. Jesus asks us to invite the poor, the lame, the blind, the injured. He says when you invite these people you will be blessed as these people cannot repay you by inviting you back.
But Jesus says something very interesting, he says that you shall be repaid at the resurrection of the justified people – implying people who have accepted Christ Jesus as saviour. (ref. Luke 14:12-14)
A2. Jesus says we require to forsake all that we have. He says without forsaking all we cannot be His disciples. (ref. Luke 14:33)
A3. Jesus was speaking about people who were killed and those on whom the tower of Siloam fell. He was telling that these people who suffered and died were not worse sinners. Continuing on this topic Jesus said that repentance was important. Unless you repent, you will likewise perish. (ref. Luke 13:3-5)
A4. Jesus says the Kingdom of God is like a mustard seed.
Suppose a man sowed a mustard seed in his garden; the seed eventually matured into a towering tree, and the birds of the sky made their homes in its branches.
He also says the Kingdom of God is like a leaven.
He spoke further about a woman who took three measures of flour and mixed them with a pinch (tiny quantity) of leaven. until all of the dough was completely leavened. (Luke 13:18-21)
A5. Jesus says we are not able to add one cubit (equivalent to 17.5 inches , 44.5 cm) to our stature by worrying. Since we are not able to do this there is no reason we should be anxious for the rest of the matters.
Jesus says we should not worry about our life, what to eat, what to wear. He says life is more than food and body is more than what we wear.
Jesus reminds us about ravens, that they neither sow, reap nor do they have a store house, but God feeds them. Jesus assures us that we are of greater value than the ravens.
Jesus says that the lilies do not toil and sweat, nor do they spin, yet King Solomon in all the Kingly glory was not adorned like one of the lilies.
Jesus reminds us how beautifully God clothes the grass which is thrown to the fire the next day. He says how much better the Lord would cloth us, oh people of little faith!
Then he says we should not be anxious about what we eat, drink, nor have an anxious mind.
For these are the things that the world seeks after. Our father in Heaven knows these are things we need. So we ought to be assured about all these things.
Jesus says but rather than seeking these things we should seek the Kingdom of God and all these things shall be added to us! (Luke 12: 22-31)
A6. Jesus says he did not come to give peace on the earth. Rather he came to cause division. Jesus says that from now on five in a house will be divided, three persons two and two against three. Father will be divided from son. Similarly the mother would be divided from the daughter. Some would accept Jesus as their Lord and saviour, others would not.. (Luke 12: 49-53)
