Repentance is powerful. We are changed and transformed by true repentance. Luke 15:8-10 speaks about this. The verse from two versions of the Bible is given below.
8 “Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins[a] and loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? 9 And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.’ 10 In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”(version NIV)
8 “Or what woman, if she has ten silver coins [each one equal to a day’s wages] and loses one coin, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? 9 And when she has found it, she calls together her [women] friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, because I found the lost coin!’ 10 In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents [that is, changes his inner self—his old way of thinking, regrets past sins, lives his life in a way that proves repentance; and seeks God’s purpose for his life].”(version AMP)
The joy when one sinner repents is so great. If so, how can we be the reason for one sinner to repent. How can we get to this place. The benefit of one such repentance is rejoicing and great joy in the presence of an angel.
Does anyone’s name come to mind where you can in gentleness and love speak on the need for change? Do you have the opportunity to spend time meeting that person? Call that person and plan this. If you do, spend time in preparation for the meeting. Seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance. Always remember that showing forth and speaking within the framework of love is most important. Use the love of Christ by which He chooses to pay the price for our sin and shortcomings – the finished work of the cross, there was no need to be weighed down in guilt, but rather seek forgiveness and receive the finished work of the cross.
Remember in the process you will see Heaven come down and angels of God rejoicing when this happens. Don’t you want to experience Heaven. Go for it.
Maybe you can ask the Holy Spirit to show forth areas where Christ has not formed in you. Reflect which fruit of the Holy Spirit you should be growing these days. This is a good place to reflect and examine yourself. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. The Holy Spirit will point you to one specific aspect which you need change – repentance.
May you experience Heaven as you do this.
