Can a Christian carry the Glory of God?

Why be a disciplined Christian?

Part 1 of 2 articles regarding “How a Christian can carry Glory of God?”

A Christian can certainly carry the Glory of the Lord. But many of us have not thought about carrying God’s glory. And the truth is the vast majority have never desired it even.

Often what we have not thought or desired limits what we could experience. So let us discover how various individuals have carried the Glory of God as mentioned in the Bible. And how on the basis of scripture we can desire, rather we should desire to carry the Glory of God. We should remember our God gives us abundantly more than what we ask or desire, especially for those matters that are according to God’s will.

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. ( Ephesians 3:20-21 NKJV)

People who carried Glory of God in the Bible

Let us examine the instances of people who carried the glory of God as mentioned in the Bible. We know about Moses’ face shining with the glory of God. It was such glory that Israelites could not look at his face and Moses had to cover his face.

Now it was so, when Moses came down from Mount Sinai (and the two tablets of the Testimony were in Moses’ hand when he came down from the mountain), that Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone while he talked with Him. So when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to come near him. ( Exodus 34:29-30 NKJV)

We also see when Jesus prayed, His face was transformed and the cloth he wore became dazzling white. Certainly not only the face of Jesus, but also his clothes showed God’s glory. Here is the verse from the New Testament.

And as he was praying, the appearance of his face was transformed, and his clothes became dazzling white. ( Luke 9:29 NKJV)

We know at the mount of the transfiguration of Jesus when Moses and Elijah appeared along with Jesus. This time the face of Jesus shone like the sun and his clothes became bright as light. Here is the verse.  Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves; 2 and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light. 3 And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him.( Mathew 17:1-3 NKJV)

We also know about Stephen in the book of Acts of the Apostle in the Bible. He was accused of blasphemy. But Stephen spoke with great wisdom. The power of the Holy Spirit was manifested well. It will be good if you read the whole passage below, but if you are in a rush, go to the last verse in the paragraph just below. A bit longer passage is reproduced below so that you get the whole context.

And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people. Then there arose some from what is called the Synagogue of the Freedmen (Cyrenians, Alexandrians, and those from Cilicia and Asia), disputing with Stephen. And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke. Then they secretly induced men to say, “We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God.” And they stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes; and they came upon him, seized him, and brought him to the council. They also set up false witnesses who said, “This man does not cease to speak blasphemous words against this holy place and the law; for we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and change the customs which Moses delivered to us.” And all who sat in the council, looking steadfastly at him, saw his face as the face of an angel.( Acts 6: 8-16 NKJV)

There can be many instances where others individuals carried the glory of God mentioned in the Bible. But these are for you to discover by having a regular habit of reading the Bible.

We will be going into a very important aspect of how we can carry the glory of God in our day-to-day lives.
