Today’s verse is from Psalm 133:1. Here is the verse from four versions of the Bible.
How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! (version NLT)
How truly wonderful and delightful it is to see brothers and sisters living together in sweet unity! (version TPT)
How wonderful, how beautiful, when brothers and sisters get along! (version The Message)
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! (version AMPC)
When the written word of God(the Holy Bible), calls something wonderful and beautiful, it is so. God’s perspective is true, we should value this. Hence, let us give great importance to putting in great effort to create a wonderful, beautiful state of dwelling in unity. Let us hear that praise from God as we become loving children of God, living in unity.
Due to over usage, wrong usage, words sometimes lose their significance. Hence, let us examine how these words are used in the Bible. This way, we get to understand God’s perspective when these words are used. In the Book of Isaiah, Jesus was called Wonderful. “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.” ( reference, Isaiah 9:6)
In this psalm we see the usage of the word beauty to the Lord. One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple. (reference Psalm 27:4)
Knowing that the words wonderful and beautiful are used to describe the Lord, let us work towards unity among Churches, fellow Christians, fellow believers, within our families. While differences in opinions are possible, remaining/dwelling in unity and love about what matters most – the Lordship of Jesus can be a significant step to be cherished and desired.
The Bible mentions the Church as the bride of Jesus Christ. Only a church in unity by the love of Christ can be transformed into a bride. This will delight Jesus Christ. We need to desire and pray for this.
The prayer of the faithful, united in spirit, is effective. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them. (reference, Matthew 18:20) This is a statement of Jesus Christ where unity is mentioned. The unity is hidden within the statement. When two or three are gathered in the name of Jesus, he (Jesus) is present with them. The beauty, wonder, goodness of the presence of Jesus in this gathering (gathering of 2 or 3 in Jesus Name) is simply amazing.
Have this thought inscribed in your thoughts. Let our prayers and actions take us closer to experiencing the wonder and beauty of God’s people living together in unity.
