In our lives, we face situations and circumstances that are beyond our understanding.
These can make us stressed, worried, and even anxious.
Some of us may walk up and down more, lose sleep, and become angry. We may speak what we normally don’t. We may blame ourselves, others, and even God.
We may forget the promises that were held when life was normal, forgetting that the promises of God for us are always true.
The Lord assures us of his presence with us, his strength empowering us, and His righteous hand holding us. Read this.
Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
(Isaiah 41:10 NKJV)
The Lord asks us to be courageous, since the almighty God, the all-powerful one, is accompanying us where we go.
Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”
(Deuteronomy 31:6 NKJV)
Our Lord has said, He will be with us, never leaving us alone. He wants us to boldly say.
“The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”
Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
So we may boldly say:
“The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear.
What can man do to me?”
(Hebrews 13:5 NKJV)
Fear, anxiety, and worry are often given access and influence over our lives. During crises and challenging circumstances, we do not make an effort to remember the promises of God given to us in the Bible.
We tend to give fear, anxiety, and worry greater status and authority, not remembering that these are from the Devil, the evil one whom we should ignore as we are children of God. A change that happens at once when we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.
When we were the old creation, there was an excuse for this sort of behavior. But as Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior, all this changes. The promises remind us of that.
Thus fear should not be given a place of authority over us. Because the word of God is true. And it is true over every season and every circumstance
Only anyone to whom we give power and authority has access rights over our minds, and over our life. As a child of God, all kinds of fear, and anxiety do not have any rights over us, any influence over us.
We need to remember that the promises we read earlier hold good and they do not change. These are a few precious verses that mention the unchanging nature of God and God’s word.
The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever. (Isaiah 40:8 NKJV)
Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven. Your faithfulness endures to all generations; You established the earth, and it abides. They continue this day according to Your ordinances, For all are Your servants.(Psalm 119:89-91 NKJV)
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.(Hebrews 13:8 NKJV)
“God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? (Numbers 23:19 NKJV)
So let us firmly establish these truths in our hearts and our minds.
Our Lord is also intentional that we are always victorious.
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
(Romans 8:37 NKJV)
Our Lord wants us to stand tall, above every situation and circumstance, not beneath.
And the LORD will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them. (Deuteronomy 28:13 NKJV)
And he has prepared us, strengthened us, and emboldened us by victorious outcomes we have already seen in other instances of similar circumstances.
At one point, among many others, Sihon king of Heshbon, and Og king of Bashan were hindrances to Joshua’s conquest of the promised land. Joshua had asked King Sihon passageway through his kingdom for a very disciplined passage and even offered money for food and water used during the period of passage through the territory. But the Lord had hardened his heart. But the Lord God hardened the King’s heart.
But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass through, for the Lord your God hardened his spirit and made his heart obstinate, that He might deliver him into your hand, as it is this day. (Deuteronomy 2:30 NKJV)
But in this seemingly difficult situation, the Lord used it for the benefit of Joshua and the Israelites.
And the Lord said to me, ‘See, I have begun to give Sihon and his land over to you. Begin to possess it, that you may inherit his land.’ Then Sihon and all his people came out against us to fight at Jahaz. And the Lord our God delivered him over to us; so we defeated him, his sons, and all his people.(Deuteronomy 2:31-33 NKJV)
And later when Og king of Bashan and his people came to battle Joshua and his people at Edri, the Lord said to Joshua, not to fear. Here this in Joshua’s words. And the Lord said to me, ‘Do not fear him, for I have delivered him and all his people and his land into your hand; you shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon.’(Deuteronomy 3:2 NKJV)
Joshua totally defeated the Og king of Bashan and all his people.
“So the Lord our God also delivered into our hands Og king of Bashan, with all his people, and we [a]attacked him until he had no survivors remaining. And we took all his cities at that time; there was not a city which we did not take from them: sixty cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan. All these cities were fortified with high walls, gates, and bars, besides a great many rural towns. And we utterly destroyed them, as we did to Sihon king of Heshbon, utterly destroying the men, women, and children of every city.(Deuteronomy 3:3-6 NKJV)
Further on his journey, the Lord strengthened Joshua asking him to remember the victories the Lord had already given him with the two kings of Sihon, king of Heshbon, and Og king of Bashan. The Lord told him what he had seen with his own eyes, with the same power the Lord God Himself would fight for Joshua and the Israelites.
“And I commanded Joshua at that time, saying, ‘Your eyes have seen all that the Lord your God has done to these two kings; so will the Lord do to all the kingdoms through which you pass. You must not fear them, for the Lord your God Himself fights for you.’ (Deuteronomy 3:21-22 NKJV)
We need to remember the victories the Lord has already given us in our lives. Remember what we have already experienced, already seen, and be rest assured that the very same Lord who gave us victories in the past will continue to fight for us.
May the Lord bless you and strengthen you.
