Why desire an identity in Jesus Christ?

God created mankind. But in the garden of Eden, the Devil got an opportunity to speak to Eve. With evil intent in mind, the Devil twisted God’s word and succeeded in trapping Eve into sinning against God. Adam and Eve lost the privilege of living with God in the garden of Eden. They lost the opportunity of abundance of fruitfulness in the garden without sweat or toil.

When mankind became slaves to sin, by obeying Satan, mankind also lost Peace, Rest, Joy. Man had to sweat it out outside the garden which God created for mankind.

But because of God’s love for mankind, God gave His only son Jesus to pay the price of our sin by dying on the cross.

So now we have the identity of Christ, a new identity brought to us by the crucifixion of Jesus. We are now children of God, as sons and daughters of God.

Because we believe in Jesus, His crucifixion and resurrection, we abide in Jesus Christ. So when Father God sees us, He sees Jesus Christ. God loves us the same way He loves Jesus Christ. It’s only right that we do our best to step into the identity of Christ. Making these declarations regularly for over 6 weeks earnestly desiring with our hearts, we can start seeing the change. A yielded heart will quicken the process.

What is this identity in Jesus Christ?

This is a unique identity. This is an eternal identity. Once we accept Jesus as our Lord and savior, we keep this identity. The Bible verses about our identity in Christ can be discovered as you prayerfully read the Bible. These Bible verses are like promises. When the eyes of your heart see, when your soul gets a nudge, you can go for it. Write down the Bible Verses in a notebook under the heading Bible verses about my identity in Jesus Christ. After writing these down over the next few weeks, prayerfully start declaring these over your life.

When does this transformation start?

To begin with, you can declare a few identity christian verses which are curated below for you. Within six weeks as you declare daily, you are bound to start experiencing the transformation power of the Holy Spirit. Many choose to declare these twice. Once in the morning and then once again anytime during the day.

Many Christians are nominal christians not knowing the power and authority of having the identity of Christ. Many even do not know there is an identity in Jesus Christ. Don’t we come across children who do not walk in the grace, wisdom of their parents? We were there once upon a time, we were not aware of our spiritual inheritance. But today we want to take possession of our inheritance and live a fulfilled life in Christ Jesus.

The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. (Romans 8:16-17 NKJV)

The identity verses are like demand drafts in our name. It’s in your name. When the demand drafts are in your name it belongs to you. But only when you encash it, you can use the amount mentioned on them. In the same way, unless you prayfully use them on a regular basis, the identity verses are like the demand drafts that are not encashed. You get to benefit from these verses only after you “encash them”.

All promises in the Holy Bible can manifest to us, as we prayerfully use them, declare them, remember them, have faith in them.

No need to be anxious. Remember what Jesus Christ said that the faith, the size of a mustard seed, can move mountains. If you have not seen a mustard seed you should remember the mustard seed is as small and fits within a small letter “o”!

So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. (NKJV Mathew 17:20)

Sincerely desire even as you declare that you would be transformed into being like Christ in a progressive manner. Take ownership of the verses, they belong to you from the very moment you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior.

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. (NKJV Romans 8:28-29)

Benefits: Identity in Christ declarations

As a christian, our walk of life is an everyday process. The life situations, circumstances, the decisions, the choices, the decisions we make help us in the journey to being made in the image and likeness of God. (Genesis 1:27)

Paul, author of many of the New Testament books (13 or 14 books out of the 27 books that make up the New Testament), made brilliant identity statements. Declaring these, knowing these and reminding oneself of them is a powerful key to walking in the will of the Lord. These declarations make us aware of the expectations and job responsibilities we have as ambassadors of Christ. They guide us into choices and decisions that make us like Jesus Christ.

These identity statements are powerful as they are based on Holy Spirit inspired verses from the Holy Bible. The specific reference verses are stated after each declaration in light font only for your references and not for declaring.

Concluding remarks

Declare these statements daily – morning and evening and start to experience the transformation power within six weeks. In case you lack time, declare part of them in the morning and the others later in the day or night. Do not be burdened but do them with sincerity without pressure and without haste. Remember you are God’s beloved child. He loves you dearly.

Knowing them is important, remembering them often is great, as we renew our minds with these Bible verses of Christian identity, we realize that our thoughts, our actions and our words get shaped from our identity in Christ. The change is profound. You get to shine like Jesus, bringing glory and honor to our Heavenly Father.
