We are not to disconnect with God after our brief morning interactions. After our quiet time, time of worship, time of Bible reading, time of prayers, we need to stay connected with our Lord Jesus.
From sun rise to sunset, i.e. all through the day – the Lord desires we walk with Him. We are not to forget his precepts and walk as though we are cut off from Him.
Wonder what it would be like if a married person after leaving his home goes around ignoring the fact that he/she is already married. Imagine a good, well-disciplined, obedient child speaking filthy words after he is far from home. Anyone would agree that both these are hypocritical behaviour.
The truth of the matter about believers is that Christ lives within us. Anyone who has accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior has this privilege. Galatians 2:20 states this.
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. (Galatians 2:20 NKJV)
Since Jesus lives within us, we ought to be aware of His presence within us. We ought to hear His whisper, speak to Him and see our surroundings and circumstances from His perspective. The moment we do this more often, we would speak, act and do things that please Jesus.
Unfortunately many of us behave like a deaf, dumb and blind person. We ignore Jesus within us. So we speak whatever pleases our old man. We speak of what comes as default behaviour. We rather let the old dead man come back to life, rather than let Jesus Christ become alive speaking and acting from within us.
Crucifying the old man (old self) is to be tried in an ongoing manner repeatedly. This has to be done with a desire to love Jesus more and pleasing Him.
As the Lords saints we need to walk in His presence and always keep hearing from Him. As the Lord’s creation, we need to please and delight Him throughout the day.
Here goes the lyrics of the worship song, I give you my heart.
This is my desire
To honor You
Lord, with all my heart
I worship You
All I have within me
I give You praise
All that I adore
Is in You
Lord, I give You my heart
I give You my soul
I live for you alone
And every breath that I take
Every moment I’m awake
Lord, have Your way in me
This is my desire
To honor You
Lord, with all my heart
I worship You
All I have within me
I give You praise
All that I adore
Is in You
Lord, I give You my heart
I give You my soul
I live for you alone
Every breath that I take
Every moment I’m awake
Lord, have Your way in me
And I will live
And I will live for You
And I will live
And I will live for You
Oh and I will live
And I will live
And I will live for You
Lord, I give You my heart
I give You my soul, I live for You alone
Every breath that I take, every moment I’m awake
Lord, have Your way in me
Have Your way
Have Your way, have Your way
When we praise God, we glorify God. As the living vessels we carry God’s presence. As surrendered lives we speak and do things that please God. We thus bring glory and honour to God.
Psalm 50:23 reminds us that having good conduct and conversations will experience the saving grace of God. We are to praise God and glorify Him.
Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.(version KJV)
He who brings an offering of praise and thanksgiving honors and glorifies Me; and he who orders his way aright [who prepares the way that I may show him], to him I will demonstrate the salvation of God. (version AMPC)
A person who hates instructions from the Lord and ignores correction from the Lord is wicked. God does not want such a person to even read the Bible, the book of covenant.
The Lord does not want a person who makes friendship with thieves and adulterers. The Lord hates people who speak wrong about his siblings, speaking evil and deceit.
So a person who loves God needs to speak and act pleasing to God in all his ways. Otherwise, his life is meaningless. So do not forget God through your day. This is stated clearly in Psalm 50:16-22.
16 But to the wicked, God says: What right have you to recite My statutes or take My covenant or pledge on your lips,
17 Seeing that you hate instruction and correction and cast My words behind you [discarding them]?
18 When you see a thief, you associate with him, and you have taken part with adulterers.
19 You give your mouth to evil, and your tongue frames deceit.
20 You sit and speak against your brother; you slander your own mother’s son.
21 These things you have done and I kept silent; you thought I was once entirely like you. But [now] I will reprove you and put [the charge] in order before your eyes.
22 Now consider this, you who forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver. (Psalm 50:16-22 NKJV)
As we walk with God, abiding in Him, we bear much fruit. We no longer are limited to what we were capable of. Our fruitfulness in the Lord begins to manifest and expresses to the people around us.
5 I am the Vine; you are the branches. Whoever lives in Me and I in him bears much (abundant) fruit. However, apart from Me [cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing. ( John 15:5 AMPC)
How do we abide in Jesus, by having his Word abide in our hearts so that our words, thoughts and actions are directed by it. When we produce fruit – thoughts, words and actions – we bring glory to the Father God.
7 If you live in Me [abide vitally united to Me] and My words remain in you and continue to live in your hearts, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you.
8 When you bear (produce) much fruit, My Father is honored and glorified, and you show and prove yourselves to be true followers of Mine. (John 15:7,8 AMPC)
Jesus also says that Jesus loves us with the very same love that the Father God has loved Him. This is so very, very amazing. We are asked to abide in this love. Let us be aware throughout our wakeful day of this great love of Jesus for us.
9 I have loved you, [just] as the Father has loved Me; abide in My love [continue in His love with Me]. (John 15:9 AMPC)
